After three weeks of preparation, during which the Capistes combined their physical training with a return to the field to try out the oval ball, the CAP is playing its first friendly match of the season this Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Souillac (Lot).

Since Wednesday evening, the Périgourdins have been in Souillac, the hometown of manager Didier Casadéi. They will stay there until Friday for the first friendly match against Albi. A two-day training camp that will allow them to concentrate and also apply everything they learned during the three weeks of preparation [Editor's note: they had already done this two seasons ago].

However, July wasn't a success for the Capistes. "Our preparation was average," laments Didier Casadéi. "We had quite a few sick players. We caught a bacteria that caused half the squad to cancel." This delayed the CAP. Add to that injuries, and not the least. "It's mainly at the back that we have absences," explains the Capiste manager. "We're bothered, but hey, that's how it is," he continues, somewhat resigned. Jaun Kotze, Cyril Couturier, Freddy Hickes, Nicolas Piaton, Anderson Neisen, to name a few, will therefore miss the first friendly match. As will Rory Scholes, for personal reasons.

Getting back into competition

CAP will therefore not be able to field two different teams for this friendly but will instead play all the players present. "Up front, it's okay, but at the back, we're already forced to shift players, because of the absentees, especially at center," says Didier Casadéi. The Périgourdins will be facing Albi again, a team they will face this season (CAP will travel to Albi on December 5 and host the Tarnais for the final matchday, on April 25).

The manager especially wants his players to get back into competitive action, especially in clashes. "While we've worked a little on rugby in preparation, we haven't played at 100%," says Didier Casadéi. "So we have three matches to do that."

The latter also hopes that the mayonnaise has taken hold, between the old and new, and that the CAP will behave as a team. Right away, Didier Casadéi wants to lay the foundations: combat, discipline. 'This training course is also an opportunity to live together for two days.' A short but educational training course.
